The likes of Gilbert & George have, for decades, poked fun at contemporary iconography not least in their collaboration with tongue-in-cheek urban artist Endless. In their first solo exhibition in Singapore and Southeast-Asia titled UTOPIAN PICTURES the duo featured a collaborative piece 'Crusade' with Endless artist. His contribution was as a ribbed green torso normally associated with the heart-throb David Beckham - wearing a bright yellow set of Calvin Klein's as a centre piece.
In preparation for his new solo exhibition titled ‘Beaut’at The Exhibitionist Hotel, Endless focuses more on the ties between brand advertising and our perception of beauty than his usual brand vandalism.
The creative takeover of the hotel includes an immersive Art Corridor on the 3rd floor adorned with fashion icons Cara Delevingne, Naomi Campbell and Karl Lagerfeld in striking black and gold paint, as well as, a double-height mural in the staircase of the Hotel lobby depicting Queen Elizabeth II draped in a gold Louis Vuitton cape.
In this show, Endless delivers an array of new work depicting a blend of prominent brand and celebrity iconography in his usual vivid aesthetic. The pièce de résistance however, will be the magnificent portrait of Rita Ora signed by the musician herself. The painting is to be sold in aid of Breast Cancer Now with one hundred percent of the sale donated to the charity.
