The stunning mural by Karis Knight in the main stairwell was inspired by Utopian cities Art Deco movement.
Having studied Textile Design at Central Saint Martins she spent 2 years as a creative assistant.
“My time at St Martins enabled me to work on large scale installations”
With one such occasion being asked to design and paint a wall mural within Topshop’s flagship store.
“The success and enjoyment of painting this mural led to many more commissions, and so kick-started my career as a mural/visual artist.”
Karis explores the invisible architecture of creation, the combinations of shape, pattern, colour and texture that are the building blocks of our everyday environments that often go unnoticed but contribute to our human behaviour. Biophilia, or the innate affinity that human beings have with the natural world, interests Karis as she explores how our behaviour is altered by the architecture of the city.
